The Ministry of Mining will host the second Malawi Mining Investment Forum (MMIF2025) at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on April 28th and 29th, 2025.
His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, will officially open the Forum as guest of honour.
Minister of Mining Dr Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma announced during a press briefing held in Lilongwe on Tuesday that the MMIF 2025 promises to be an innovative and dynamic forum aimed at further promoting Malawi’s mining sector, advancing national development priorities, and providing value to participants and stakeholders.
The theme for the 2025 Mining Investment Forum is “Advancing Malawi’s Mining Agenda in an Evolving Global Industry.” This theme highlights the continuous improvements in the regulatory environment and the Ministry's commitment to attracting investment while supporting the artisanal and small-scale mining sub-sector.
This event follows the successful 2024 Malawi Mining Investment Forum, which took place at the same venue from April 23rd to 24th, 2024, during Agriculture, Tourism and Mining (ATM) week, which was officially opened by our President, His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.
“The goal is to promote collaboration and engage in insightful discussions aimed at developing actionable solutions for the growth and sustainability of the mining sector in Malawi,” Ng’oma said.
The Minister expressed gratitude to NICO Group for being the lead sponsor and thanked other sponsors and exhibitors for their support.
Group Business Executive for NICO Group, which includes NBS Bank and ERIS Properties, Zizwani Khonje, stressed the significant role the mining sector plays in driving Malawi's economic growth, adding that the K50 million donation will support the forum's activities, enabling it to achieve its objectives of promoting the growth and sustainability of Malawi's mining sector.
"The donation reflects NICO Group's confidence in the sector's potential and its willingness to contribute to its development,” Khonje said.
