Theme: Revolusionising Malawi's economy Mineral-Driven Innovation,Creativity and Entreprenuerial Spirit
On July 14 and 15, 2025, Malawi's Ministry of Mining will hold the Malawi Mining Symposium at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe. This event follows the momentum from the 2025 Malawi Mining Investment Forum (MMIF) and the PDU Mining Lab.
Under the theme "Revolutionizing Malawi's Economy through Mineral-Driven Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurial Spirit," the symposium aims to highlight Malawi's mineral potential and unlock sustainable investments.
The event will serve as a strategic platform for multi-stakeholder engagement, connecting local and international investors, government representatives, and groups focused on youth and women's empowerment. The symposium emphasizes the Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship (I.C.E) model as a means to achieve inclusive economic growth, value addition, and job creation—especially for youth and women.
With over 150 participants expected, the symposium will address critical issues such as transparency, licensing reform, and the formalization of artisanal mining. It will also showcase opportunities associated with major projects, including the anticipated reopening of the Kayelekera Uranium Mine and the exploration of critical minerals like lithium and graphite.
This symposium represents a significant step toward industrializing Malawi's mineral sector, building local capacity, and positioning the country as a responsible player in global mineral supply chains.
